Rules and Regulation NEWS CASTING (all rounds)

This field is requirement to who holds interest in challenging themselves more for News Anchor role. It will be a good chance to develop the ranges of your presentation skills. Presented in the 2012 Economics Dean Trophy English Competition, enjoy the excitement and extraordinary challenges.

I.                  General Rules

1.   Every participant should be registered before the competition starts (at least 15 minutes earlier).

2.   Every participant or representative has to attend the Technical Meeting on the day.

3.   Dress accordingly for every round: formal dressed includes shirt, pants, and shoes. Blazer and tie (men) are preferable.

4.   Before the competition, contestants are briefed on the rules by coordinator.

5.   Each contestant will be called 3 times when their turn comes before considered as walk out.

6.   After performing, contestant may not join the audience.

7.  All participants should respect and appreciate every judgment from the judges.

II.               Competition Format

E-DETECT 2012 News Casting competition consists of 5 rounds: the 1^st preliminary round, the 2^nd preliminary round, quarter final round, semi final round and final round.

 

1.      The 1^st Preliminary Round: News Reading

As opening round, the participants have to present 2 different news in 5 minutes which will be provided by the committee. Preparation time will be 5 minutes in quarantine room.

 

2.      The 2^nd Preliminary Round: Showbiz

In this round, the participants will bring showbiz news in 7 minutes. The theme choice will be handed to you, e.g.: music, movie, sports, lifestyle, celebrity, etc. Be an attractive news presenter together with your chosen partner!
 

3.      Quarter Final Round: Live Report

Each participant will have a live report in 5 minutes. The themes will be announced in technical meeting.

 

4.      Semi Final Round: News Reading (Team)

In this round, get ready to back to basic and make sure you are able to deliver news with your chosen partner. You both will have to present news within 8 minutes.

 

5.      Final Round: News Reading + Interview

Each participant has to present news and interview with a guest star prepared by the committee based on a certain topic in 10 minutes. Preparation in quarantine room will be 15 minutes.
 

III.             Scoring Criteria

The score will be considered based on:

1.      Accuracy

2.      Fluency

3.      Performance

4.      Intonation & Expression

5.      Interaction & Communication
