RULES AND REGULATIONS OF
ECONOMICS DEAN TROPHY ENGLISH COMPETITION
(NEWSCASTING FIELD)
Competition description
Economics Dean Trophy English Competition 2012 - Newscasting Competition is a faculty-level competition which
provides a chance for participants to improve their speaking abilities and show
their true spirit of expressing information as news caster.
Competition format
There are 5 competition phases: Preliminary
Round 1, Preliminary Round 2, Quarter Final Round, Semi Final Round, and Grand
Final Round.
Newscasting General Rules
1. Each contestant must arrive at the designated room at least 15
minutes before the competition starts.
2. Each contestant will be called 3 times when their turn comes before
considered as walk-out.
3. Dress accordingly for every round: formal dress included shirt,
pants, shoes. No sandals and t-shirt allowed.
4. Before the competition, contestants will get briefing about the rules by the coordinator.
5. Contestants should remain in the designated room until they are
called to perform their performance.
6. After performing, contestants must join the audience.
7. The coordinator will introduce each contestant by announcing the
contestant’s
name and news title.
8. All contestants will speak from the same platform or area designated
from any position and are not limited to stand at the lectern or podium.
9. There will be one minute of silence between contestants during which
the judges will mark their ballots.
Judges
may also disqualify a speaker for ineligibility.
